What do I need to know about meets?

Swim meets are swum on a regular basis throughout the year depending on the season. Swimmers are not expected to swim in every meet. Swimming in a meet is up to the swimmers and the parents based on the swimmers’ commitment to the sport.

Meet schedules are emailed to parents before the start of each swim session.

For home and away meets, the swimmers pay for their own travel expenses. During each out of town meet, an attempt will be made to get together for a team dinner. One dinner will be purchased for each swimmer who attends the team dinner and will be paid for using our team’s fundraising money.

To help promote team spirit, it is suggested that swimmers wear a Stingray cap and a team suit during competition. Stingray caps, t-shirts and sweatshirts are available for purchase in the swim team office.

Special Stingray team t-shirts are given to swimmers who achieve Regional “Q” times or State “Q” times, whichever the higher “Q” time. A Stingray team warm-up is given to those swimmers who achieve at least three (3) Far Western “Q” times.

What is a MEAD Account For?

MEAD (Meet Entry Account Deposit): Is used to pay for meet entry fees. Generally Meets in Tucson have a per event fee of $4 and a swimmer entry fee of $5, there is a team surcharge of $5 that is also added. The team covers the cost of any Relays. Meets that are out of town or championship type meets often have higher costs.

Generally you will get an email from the treasurer if your account drops below the amount needed for a future meet ( ~$25 ). If you leave the team you may request the return of remaining funds in that account.

How do I get reimbursed for expenses I incur on behalf of the team?

If you make purchases for the team and need to be reimbursed please fill out the form and follow the instructions on it.
